Google Spreadsheet

Check your grades against the spreadsheet shown below! (To get your own copy of this spreadsheet, follow this link.)

1. GoogleDocs

You will be given entry prompts to demonstrate your understanding of ideas several times each chapter. The exact prompts will be shared with you via a GoogleDoc, with the same name as the chapter. Your answers will be written into your own GoogleDoc. I will leave comments in your GoogleDoc, and if you want to improve your entry, you will be encouraged to do so. Two days before the test, all rewrites must be finished, and the grades will be finalized. I'd love you to have a perfect score on your GoogleDoc entries going into the test!

You can find your GoogleDocs by signing in at www.google.com. (Remember to use the account with your Gaggle address!)

What do good GoogleDoc entries look like? Click here for some examples!

2. Quia Quizzes

You will be given quizzes throughout the chapter to see if you have mastered basic skills. You will have multiple attempts to demonstrate mastery, and your best score will be counted toward your grade. Please learn from your mistakes before you take the quiz again! Two days before the test, all quiz attempts must be finished, and the grades will be finalized. I'd love for you to have a perfect score on your Quia Quizzes going into the test! You are welcome to take the test many times to prepare for the exam, and each time you log in you will get a different set of questions on the same theme!

Your make-up quizzes can be found at this link .

3. Class Assignments

Each chapter will see a number of class assignments which will be graded on a 5 point scale (5=Advanced, 4=Proficient, 3=Basic, 2=Below Basic). These assignments will be submitted for credit in a variety of ways, but usually through the Hand-in Robot!

4. Tests

Once we have worked through all of the concepts in the chapter, you'll have a chance to put together all of your skills and knowledge in a chapter test. This test will count around twice as much as your other chapter grades, so I encourage you to review your GoogleDoc entries and Quia Quizzes as you study for the test! If your test score is failing (below 65%), I encourage you to learn from your mistakes and schedule a re-test with me. If your re-test has a passing score, I will adjust your original score to 33/50. This should keep you out of danger of failing the marking period, although it is certainly not as good as doing well on the original test!

4.1 Control-Z

ControlZ.pngThe purpose of this 'Blog is to document your mistakes on the chapter tests so you can avoid making the same mistake on the final exam! We will add to the same 'Blog after each chapter, so you have the beginnings of a study guide already made for you!

Here's how it works: 1) Label the chapter; 2) Insert screenshot; 3) Type "Lessons Learned".
For example:

Chapter G:
INSERT SCREENSHOT OF QUESTION MARKED INCORRECT

Type your correction underneath, and tell yourself something that will help you avoid this mistake on the final exam!

When you are ready to cash in your Control-Z, send me an email through the Share tab (Send message to collaborators)!

5. Projects

Each marking period will see one major project, which will count as much as a major test. You will be given one month to finish this project, and you will have to give me updates along the way. You will know the grading criteria from the time the project is assigned, so you have a great opportunity to use your creative talents and individual perspectives to earn a great grade!

6. Honors Work

All of my classes are preparing for college, so much of the work will be similar. Honors classes will have additional assignments that will justify the additional honors they are seeking! More details will be forthcoming...
